Hello and Welcome to the Red Line Book Club! (Formerly the Davis Square Book Club). "A book is like a garden carried in the pocket." This is a club where friendly interesting people meet to discuss the books we have all read together. If there is a general theme to the books we read, it's that we read "great" books: enduring classics and new books with lots of potential. You have the entire rest of the world with whom you can discuss Stieg Larsson; here we try to dig at least a little deeper. F …
V.C. Andrews Book Club, anyone? As a teenager, her books both fascinated and frightened me; Andrews' stories read like horrific fairytales, gritty with no happy endings. While today's YA fiction focuses largely on dystopian societies, Andrews explored taboo subjects of our own society (and quite possibly, of her own strange mind). I think it would interesting to read her books again, in my late twenties, and see if they are still as scandalous and as much of a guilty pleasure as my 12 year old s …
I’m trying to set up a book club. Here’s the criteria: (1) gay men (2) in the Boston area (3) reading fiction (4) and meeting every month or so. I used to be in a book club in the suburbs, with my wife and three other couples. But in 2010, when I came out … I got kicked out! Now I want to start up a new group. Rather than a large group with people participating some times and not others, it would be a small group, maybe 8-10 guys, who are committed to doing the reading and showing up each month. …
This group is for people in or around Jamaica Plain, in their 20's or 30's, who love reading and would like to make a few new friends. This group is all about being casual and not opposed to having a few drinks while chatting about a book. Possible meetup spots could include local bars, restaurants, cafe's, The arboretum or the pond if it's a nice evening or even someone's house for a potluck.
There are no upcoming Meetups.
We are a small group of avid readers who love to get together and discuss fiction/ non fiction over a good meal or drinks. We meet every other month or so, taking turns hosting at our houses. Any book is fair game, as long as it's sure to guarantee lively discussion. Books we've read so far (or at least some of 'em): The Fault in Our Stars The Red and The Black Half of a Yellow Sun Girl with the Dragon Tattoo The Help Oh..and we like to eat! And drink. We've had some good spreads at our mee …
Am I the only person in Boston who will admit to reading trashy romance novels and LOVING them? I've formed this group to find others who share my love and want to talk about the finer points of romance novels (because there are many!) in a fun, fantastically female environment. We'll pick a new novel to read every month, which could be anything from the latest Lisa Kleypas or Christine Warren to oldies but goodies like Persuasion or Rebecca. Join me for some great, though occasionally ribald co …

When I moved back to New England after several years of living in NYC, I noticed rather quickly that Boston was very different and for some reason, it was much more difficult to meet people here, even though, I was originally from here. Needless to say, it was quite different than what I was use to. I belonged to a similar group in Manhattan. And, what began as weekly brunch quickly grew into monthly movies, five mile Fridays (long runs in Central Park), Sunday afternoons at our fave neighborho …
