A book group for people in Sunnyside and Woodside, Queens (or those who want to come here). Any age, any gender, is welcome. This is a group for people who want to meet others every month or two to talk about a book we've all read (or mostly read. We know, sometimes you hate a book and you just can't finish it. Come tell us how much you hated it and why!), and get to know people near you.

I want to combine 2 of my interests - reading and wine - so am hoping to start a book club that will meet in our local wine bar once a month. Open to anyone with similar interests that is looking more to enjoy good books, good company and good wine than get too serious about what we're reading!

They saying goes, "If you want to hide something from a Black person, put it in a book". Well this group's aim to dispel that stereotype and take in as much literary information as possible. This group will read books of all genres and meet up on a monthly basis to discuss the current reading selection. Each book will be chosen by a member of the group to enable the group to read books of everyones taste.

Inspired by a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, about a long-running reading group in which the members read books aloud -- 35 or so pages a meeting -- they've read Dickens, Milton, Tolstoy, Faulkner, the Brontes, Eliot, Austen. In addition to the book we're reading (our first is The Transit of Venus), we've begun meetings by reading other short pieces or poems.

All book lovers in Sunnyside/Woodside/LIC are welcome to join a local book club. The group will meet in various apartments and everyone should feel free to bring a snack for the group.

Remember when you were a kid and comics were awesome? Well they still are. Actually, they're much better now. If you don't already know that then you need to come to the next Meetup. We're going to use this group to explore all genres for comics, trade paperbacks, and graphic novels and then discuss them over a few drinks.
